Obituary

Mary Alice Wynn, 81, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, June 8 at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 11, at the First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, with Rev. Kelly Brown and Rev. David Biggers officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Wynn was born September 1, 1925, in Macon County, North Carolina, to the late R.C. “Bob” and Bertie Elmore Rickman. She lived in the community most of her life. Mrs. Wynn received her Bachelor’s degree from Tift College in Forsyth, Masters degree from Florida State University and her six-year reading specialist degree from Georgia Southern. She began her teaching career at Roanoke Elementary School and also taught at Fitzgerald High School, retiring after 30 years. Mrs. Wynn was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Retired Educators Association. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Wynn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ed & Ginger Wynn of Fitzgerald; daughters and sons-in-law, Carole & Larry Linker of Woodbine and Janice & Lyle Usry of Lithonia; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
