Obituary


James A. Riley, 76 of Whitman, died Friday June 8th at the VA Medical Center in Brockton, after a period of failing health.

Born and brought up in Quincy, he was the son of the late William and Jean (Knowles) Riley, he attended Quincy Schools

He was a Whitman resident for 36 years, employed as a meat cutter for First National, then at Purity supreme supermarkets for over 40 years

James severed in the Korean conflict Artillery Unit, from 1952-1954.He was a Corporal in the United States Army.

He was a proud member of A.A. for over 30 years, an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed golfing and gardening.

He is survived by his children Jeffery Riley of Whitman, Jon Riley of Dorchester, Christine Riley of North Attleboro, Patricia Riley of Brockton; his brothers Edward Riley of Carver, Edwina Parance of NH, Lillian Coke of Florida and Ethel Lyons of Nevada; 4 grandchildren; Joshua, Maggie, Jacob and Erin Riley ; several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Edward and Aileen Riley, Alice Barbuto and Jean Cook.

His Funeral will be held Tuesday JUNE 12TH at 10:00 A.M., in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Burial will follow at 12:30 P.M. in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Visiting hours Monday June 11th 4-8 P. M.
