Carmelo Diaz Baez, 75, of New Bedford died Wednesday June 6, 2007 at New Bedford Healthcare Center after a long illness.
Born in Manati, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Maria Baez and Agustin Diaz Rivera, he lived in New Bedford for many years.
He was formerly employed by the Dyrelite Corporation.
Survivors include a daughter, Shelly Correia of New Bedford; two brothers, Ismael Diaz and his wife Priscilla and Juan Diaz and his wife Ana, all of New Bedford; a sister, Monserrate Allende and her husband Rev. Jose Allende of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of Flor Diaz, Domingo Diaz, and Rosa Gonzalez.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 4-8 PM. For directions and guest book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
