WORCESTER-Rita L. (Lumb) Sullivan, 83, of 32 Farmington Street, died Wednesday, June 6th, in St. Vincent Hospital. She leaves her husband of 60 years, James R. Sullivan; 2 sons, James M. Sullivan and his wife Susan of Oxford and Michael J. Sullivan and his wife Linda of Rutland; 4 daughters, Kathleen R. Sullivan-Deeks of Red Hook, NY, Maureen D. Morse and her husband Peter of Auburn, Judith A. Michalowski and her husband Robert of Dudley and Eileen M. Lebel and her companion Tracy of Oklahoma City, OK; 3 sisters, Doris Daoust of Leicester, Mary Hawkins of Worcester and Pearl D’Amato of Wilbraham; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother Robert Lumb Jr. and a sister, Lucy Heal predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Robert and Ida (Courville) Lumb and lived here all her life. Mrs. Sullivan was a homemaker at Catholic Charities for several years and an active member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. She served in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II. A full time Mom and wife, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and she enjoyed vacations to Cape Cod with them.
The funeral is Monday, June 11th, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, June 10th from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
