Ormond W. Wheaton, 85, died June 3rd in the Brockton Hospital after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 48 years to Dorothy (Orcutt) Wheaton of Whitman.
Ormond was born and raised in Brockton; he was the son of the late Ormond T. and Ellen M. (Kling) Wheaton, a graduate of Brockton High Class of 1940.
Ormond , a resident of Whitman for 47 years, he was a former active member of the Seniors Citizens for many years, he was also a Mason at the Paul Revere Lodge in Brockton, Prince of Pease Lutheran Church in Brockton and the First Congregational Church in Whitman.
He and his family enjoyed summering in Chatham at their cottage, he enjoyed walks in Chatham bowling and traveling. He was also a student of history.
He was employed as a machinist for over 30 years for the Abington Inc. Company in Abington.
In addition to his wife of 48 years he is survived by his daughter, Susan M Johnson of Florida; his sister Mildred M. Lundim of West Bridgewater; a sister in law of Vivian Orcutt ; 3 nephews Roger Lundim ,Robert Lundim, Bruce Orcutt and his cousin of Alvah Howe.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday June 9th at 6:00 P.M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, MA.. Burial will be held at a later date. Visiting hours Saturday June 9th 4:00-6:00 P.M.
