Middleboro- Edmund V. Crean, 57, of Middleboro, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at his home. He was the husband of Debra (Ingalls) Crean.
Born Dec. 29, 1949, in Norwood, he was the son of Marie A. (Sly) Crean of Stoughton and the late Robert V. Crean.
Raised in Stoughton, Mr. Crean was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1967.
He was also a graduate of Bridgewater State College and received a Ph.D with a major in Biochemistry and a minor in Immunology from Duke University.
Over the years, Mr. Crean conducted research at the Boston Biomedical Research Institute, the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Hemagen Diagnostics in Waltham.
He shared his science knowledge as an assistant professor of oral biology in residence at the University of Connecticut and as a biological chemistry instructor in ophthalmology to first year medical students at Harvard Medical School.
Mr. Crean was a longtime member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Chemical Society.
He had been a resident of Middleboro for the past year, coming from Topsfield.
Mr. Crean enjoyed reading, softball, football and crossword puzzles.
He was the husband of Debra (Ingalls); father of Kelly Jennifer Freis and her husband John of Sherman Oaks, CA; son of Marie A. (Sly) Crean of Stoughton and the late Robert V. Crean; brother of Charles Crean of Stoughton, Kathleen Reilly and Karen Adams, both of Halifax, and Kristen Crean of Portland, ME; grandfather of Jamison Heather Freis. Also survived by 7 nephews, 2 nieces, a great-niece and a great-nephew.
A Memorial Mass will be held in Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton, Thursday at 10:30 am. Visiting hours omitted.
