Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Eleanor G. (Swift) Sonia, 82, died Sunday, June 3, 2007, in the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Sonia, who died in August of 2004.
Born in Gloucester on October 27, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Edna (Higgins) Swift. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and attended Gloucester public schools.
Eleanor was employed by Gorton’s of Gloucester until she became and mother and homemaker. She enjoyed the beach and swimming at Brace Cove. She loved cats and leaves behind her beloved Sabrina.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela J. Sonia, longtime companion of Mark Kennefick, a sister-in-law, Ursula Mitchell, a brother-in-law, Peter Asaro, nephews, Albert Mitchell, Paul Mitchell, Robert Mitchell and Peter Asaro and a niece, Patricia Hurley. She was also predeceased by a brother-in-law, Dal Mitchell and sister-in-law, Jean Asaro and a nephew, Steven Asaro.
In keeping with her wishes, services will be held privately. There are no visiting hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main St., Gloucester, MA 01930. Arrangements are under the direction of the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester.
