Obituary

BAREFOOT BAY, FL: William D. Glencross, age 70, a resident of Barefoot Bay, FL, formerly Tewksbury, died Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach, Florida.
He was the husband of Lois M. (Gates) Glencross, with whom he celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on October 25, 2006
Born in Peabody on October 2, 1936, he was the son of the late William M. and Mary (Casey) Glencross.
He was raised in Peabody, attended Peabody schools and graduated from Peabody High School in 1955.
Mr. Glencross served during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Forrest Sherman. Following his honorable discharge from active duty, he attended Northeastern University in Boston, where he received a B.S. Degree in Marketing in 1969.
Prior to his retirement, he served as the vice president and general manager for the Fenwal Electronics Company of Milford, where he worked for 26 years.
Mr. Glencross resided in Tewksbury for 31 years until moving to Barefoot Bay, FL in 2003.
While living in Tewksbury, he was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Church of West Andover.
Mr. Glencross was a member of the Sebastian, FL Lodge of Elks and the Andover Knights of Columbus.
According to his family, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, spending time with his grandchildren and coaching for the Tewksbury Little League Baseball Program.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, William F. Glencross and his wife Nancy of Groton; two daughters, Melissa A. Simmons and her husband Joseph of Wilmington and Timalie J. Fascione and her husband Arthur of Dracut; seven grandchildren, William, Thomas and Jonathon Simmons of Wilmington, Timothy and Nathan Glencross of Groton, Sophia and Mary Fascione of Dracut; five sisters, Jean Matvichuk and her husband Peter of Peabody, Beverly Griffin and her husband Richard of Naples, ME, Alice Liston and her husband James of Topsfield, Catherine St. Laurent of Lynn and Dorothy Peach and her husband Robert of Tewksbury; two brothers-in-law, Franklin Gates and his wife Priscilla of Powell, Wyoming and Timothy Gates and his wife Katherine of Marblehead; also many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Glencross was the brother of the late John F. Glencross.
Calling hours Thursday, June 7th, 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Friday, June 8th, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggett’s Pond Rd., Andover. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Assoc., P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 are requested.
