Charles "Robert" Choate, III, 60, of Tifton died Monday, June 4, 2007, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Paul Thomas will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harry Lee Hudson, Rusty Simpson, Joe Kunes, Ben DeVaughn, Justice Choate and Buzzy Bowen. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Choate was born on March 3, 1947 in Tift County and was the son of Charles Robert Choate, Jr., who died in 1973, and Margaret Carter Choate of Tifton. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Michael Choate. He was a retired manager of a contract business and a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Choate is survived by his wife, Betsy Bedsole Choate of Tifton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Charles Robert Choate, IV of Atlanta, and Michael Casey Choate and his wife, Amy, of Duluth; one brother and sister-in-law, Carter Justice Choate and his wife, May, of Tifton; and four grandchildren, Meggan Choate, Catherine Choate, Samuel Choate and Ella Choate.
