James H. Sumner, 62, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for funerals. Rev. Ronnie Lawson and Rev. Larry Daughtry will officiate with burial to follow in Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Carl Ray, G. W. Pearman, Jack Peravy, Lucky Walkr, Gilbert Hill and James Thompson will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 4, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Sumner was born on December 20, 1944 in Tift County and was the son of Albert Jackson Sumner and Elvie Lynch Sumner, both deceased. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Sumner is survived by two sons, Timothy James Sumner, Sr. of Ocilla and Anthony Sumner of Ocilla; two brothers, Gary Sumner of Tifton and Elbert Sumner of Tifton; and four grandchildren.
