Margaret Rose (Cellini) Helsel, 78, of 96 Lambtown Road, Mystic, passed away Thursday at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
Born in Philadelphia on February 17, 1929, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mina (Peeling) Cellini. She was raised in Philadelphia where she attended local schools.
She worked in accounting in the vending department at the Navy Exchange for the US Sub Base in Groton for 20 years before retiring in 1989.
Mrs. Helsel was a communicant of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. She was also an active member of the Groton Senior Center where she was part of the “Swinging Stars” Dance Club. She was also a member of the Ledyard Square Dance Club and the Pequot Ramblers Square Dance Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Helsel Skier and her husband Kenneth of Lexington, MA; her sisters, Beatrice Schmidt of Barrington, NJ and Eleanor Falasca of Blackwood, NJ; her grandchildren, Stephanie and Benjamin Skier, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Gloria Bradshaw.
A Funeral Eucharist will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 15 Pearl Street, Mystic on Wednesday at 1pm. The Rev. Mark Santucci, Rector, will officiate. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic. There are no calling hours.
