Obituary

Myer Hooker, a resident of Peabody & formerly of Chelsea, entered into rest on May 31, 2007 at the Shaughnessy Kaplan Rehabilitation Center in Salem. He was 80 years old.

Born in Chelsea, the son of the late Morris & Rebecca (Elefson) Hooker, Myer was raised & educated in Chelsea. He was a graduate of Chelsea High School, Bentley College, & the Lincoln Institute at Northeastern University. Myer was the former owner of the Hooker Oil Company & Mechanical Service’s Inc. both of Chelsea. He was a member of the Ocean Lodge of Masons in Winthrop, the Knights of Pythias Bellingham Lodge #53, & Cong. Agudas Shalom of Chelsea.

Myer is survived by his wife, Gigi (Winiker) Hooker of Peabody; his children, Alan M. Hooker & his wife Leslie of Andover, Joel A. Hooker & his wife Lois of Amesbury, & Rochelle Rubin & her husband Alan of Peabody; his grandchildren, Eric Hooker, Emily Rubin, & Jillian Rubin; his brother, Carl Hooker of Salem; & his sisters, Evelyn Bronstein of Beverly, & Rita Shaffer of New Seabury.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave. (Cary Sq) CHELSEA. Rabbi Frank Waldorf, rabbi emeritus of Temple Sinai will officiate. Burial will follow in the Agudos Shalom Cemetery, 232 Fuller St. Everett. Myer’s family will be having memorial observance at their individual residences. Those wishing to remember him through memorial donations may do so to a charity of one’s own choosing.
