Evelyn F. (Rosa) Couto, 76, of East Freetown died Thursday May 31, 2007 at home after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Sebastian and Helen (Costa) Rosa. She was raised by the late Charles and Mary Ambra and lived in New Bedford for most of her life before moving to Freetown 20 years
Mrs. Couto was formerly employed as a sales associate at Vanity Fair Outlet in Dartmouth.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing Bingo, and going to casinos.
Survivors include four children, Deborah Long and her husband Robert of Freetown, Jodie Gauthier and Alan Couto, both of New Bedford, and John Couto of Holiday, Fla.; a brother, Ronald Rosa of Fairhaven; a sister, Dorothy Pypek of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Brad and Chad Goodman, Shane Couto, Ashley and Eric Gauthier; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew Couto and Dylan Goodwin.
She was the grandmother of the late Starr-Ann Couto and sister of the late Harold and Helen Rosa.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
