...medical secretary at Veteran’s Hospital in Jamaica Plain; 69
LOWELL - Mrs. Beverly J. (Randall) Martinek, age 69, a retired medical secretary, died
unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 30, at her Lowell home. She was the beloved wife of the
late Michael E. Martinek, who died in February 2001.
She was born in Lynn, February 9, 1938, a daughter of the late Charles and Eleanor (Andrews)
Randall. She was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School. She lived in
Lynn until moving to Lowell in 1998.
She retired as a medical secretary at the Jamaica Plain Veterans Administration Hospital’s Dyalisis
Unit, after 18 years of service. Previously she had worked for Varian-Extrian Company in
Beverly, Mass, Analogic Company in Danvers, and Roberts and Roberts Stationary Store in Lynn.
Mrs. Martinek was described by her family as a loving mother, devoted grandmother, great
listener, with a ‘dry’ sense of humor, and a dancer, who enjoyed Bingo, trips to Foxwoods
Casino in Connecticut. She was also described as having a great sense of style, and was the
consummate shopper.
She is survived by her two loving daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Bowman of Lynn, Kelley J.
Sardina and her husband John of Billerica; a devoted son and his partner, Michael R. Martinek
and Paul Guida of Boston; a sister, Muriel “Murl” Henderson of Billerica; six grandchildren,
Jeremy and Jeffery Clay, Brian and Kerri Bowman, Jon Michael and Jacqulyn Jaye Sardina; five
great grandchildren, Jeremy, Nicolas, Trent, Jacob, and Riley; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also grandmother of the late Robert Bowman.

Her Funeral Service was held Monday, June 4,in the Funeral Home. Following cremation,
interment will be private. Memorials to The Home for Little Wanderers,
Development Department, 271 Huntington Avenue, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02115, will be
appreciated.
