NORTH ANDOVER --Edward P. “Eddie” Carbin, of Whippoorwill Farm, North Andover, MA, died after an extended illness, Thursday, November 14, at Lawrence General Hospital. He was 71. Born in Melrose, MA to the late Thomas and Catherine E. (Lambe) Carbin, he was the brother of Eleanor M. Carbin SHCJ, of Hartsdale, NY; Kevin P. Carbin of Valencia, CA; George A. Carbin of St. Louis, MO; John A. Carbin of Bakersfield, CA; William H. Carbin of San Bernardino, CA; Richard A. Carbin of Austin, TX; Thomas J. Carbin of Lompoc, CA, deceased; Joseph E. Carbin of Kodiak, AK, deceased, and Margaret M. (Carbin) McHugh of Salem, MA, deceased. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his beloved horse, Donegal. Mr. Carbin served in Europe during the Korean War from 1952-1954 in the U.S. Army. An accomplished horseman and trainer in the New England area, Mr. Carbin trained many champion riders and their horses during his career and had managed the farm and horses of the recently deceased Barbara Buckland Tighe and her late husband, Thomas J.G. Tighe, M.D., for over 40 years. A memorial gathering will be held by his family at Whippoorwill Farm, Lacy Street, North Andover, MA on Saturday, November 23, 2002 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. All wishing to pay their respects are welcome.
