Russell E. Dickey, Sr., 80, of Derry, NH, died Monday, May 28, 2007 in his home. Mr. Dickey was born in Haverhill, MA on August 11, 1926, a son of the late William J. and Marion E. (Chase) Dickey, and was a resident of Derry for most of his life. He was a US Navy veteran serving during WWII. Mr. Dickey had owned and operated Dick's Motor Service in Derry for many years. He enjoyed tinkering with trucks, and loved to travel.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle A. Mangano-Dickey of Derry; one son, James A. Dickey of Hanford, CA; two daughters, Aletha Wood of Derry, and Jo Ann DeMarais of Epping, NH; 13 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Aletha Dickey in 1993, and his son Russell E. Dickey, Jr. who died in 2002.
Calling hours were held on Thursday, May 31st from 5 - 9pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Friday at 10:00am in the funeral home. The burial followed in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in North Salem, NH.
