Thomas P. Larkin, 66, of East Boston, died on Friday May 25, 2007 at the V.A. Medical Center in West Roxbury, MA
Born in Boston, MA on May 26, 1940 he was a dear son of Evelyn (McGee) Larkin of Mansfield and the late Thomas N. Larkin.
He grew up in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston. He was educated at St. Thomas Aquinas grammar school and was a 1957 graduate of Boston Latin High School. In 1958 he enlisted in The United States Army, serving as a Court Interpreter in Germany. After being honorably discharged from the service he graduated from the Boston State Teachers College.
Following graduation from college Mr. Larkin moved to Canada where he taught for several years. He later moved back to the United States and worked for the Boston Postal Service. He later worked as an accountant at a family owned sausage co. in East Boston. His last place of employment was at Alamo Car Rentals in East Boston where he worked for 15 years in various capacities before retiring due to illness.
Tom was an avid reader. He enjoyed Irish and French music, movies and learning the culture of there countries. He had made his home in East Boston for the past 30 years.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his devoted sister; Maureen Bernard and her husband Tom of Mansfield. He was the loving uncle of Doreen Prendergast of Mansfield, Derek Prendergast of Randolph, Jeannine Cook of Attleboro and the late Michael Prendergast and Michele Prendergast .Also surviving are several grand nieces and nephews as well as many cousins and friends.
Prayer services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday May 30th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral home 55 North Main St. Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday May 29th from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
