Salem: Roger J. Dionne age 85 of Salem, died unexpectedly at his home, Thursday, May 24, 2007. He was the husband of the late Theresa L. (Eno) Dionne.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Tancrede and Elmina (Ouellette) Dionne. A veteran of World War II, he served in France and the Rhineland with the US Army with the 51st Chemical Processing Company which provided the smoke screen for D. Day in Normandy. Following his tour of duty, Roger returned to Salem and worked as an inspector for the United Shoe Machinery Corp. in Beverly until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish in Salem.
He is survived by 4 daughters: Suzanne T. Langmaid and her husband John of Ipswich, Constance G. (Healey) Marfongelli and her husband Joseph of Newburyport, Claudette D. Madore of Seabrook, NH, Elaine M. Andrus and her husband James of Auburn, NH. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Lorraine Madore.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 9 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem followed by his funeral mass in St. James Church, 156 Federal St., Salem at 10 am. Visiting hours: Monday 5 to 8 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial contributions may be made to: Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, 30 Jeffreys Neck Rd., Ipswich, MA 01938
