Obituary

PHILADELPHIA, PA; John F. “Jack” McCormack, Jr. age 72, a former longtime resident of Tewksbury, MA died Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the Frankford-Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia, following a lengthy illness.
He was the husband of Carolyn A. (Donnelly)(Johnson) McCormack, with whom he celebrated their first wedding anniversary on October 1, 2006.
Born in Boston on March 22, 1935, he was the son of the late John F. and Edith (Marion) McCormack.
Mr. McCormack attended St. Peter’s Grammar School, the former Keith Academy and graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1953.
In 1962, he was certified as a master plumber and was employed in the family business of Suburban Heating & Plumbing of Tewksbury, Inc.
In 1969, Mr. McCormack founded and operated John McCormack Plumbing & Heating Company of Tewksbury, where he worked for 28 years until retiring in 1997.
He was a member several fraternal organizations including the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks # 2070, the Tewksbury Lions Club and the Moose Lodge of Lake Placid, FL.
According to his family, Jack excelled at pitching horseshoes and placed first in numerous horseshoe tournaments in Florida, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. In addition, he enjoyed playing golf, snowmobiling, water skiing, spending the winter months in Lake Placid, FL and summering in Rochester and New Durham, NH.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Raymond McCormack and his wife Rita of Gainesville, FL, Thomas McCormack and his wife Charlene of Lawrence, MA, Mark Bernat and his wife Ellen of Nashua, NH, John P. Johnson and his wife Sabina of Merrimack, NH, James Johnson and his wife Chrissy of Addison, ME, Donald Johnson and his wife Michelle of Litchfield, NH, Susan Dorris and her husband James of Canaan, NH, Kim Moore and her companion David Brooks of Waterboro, ME and Donna Glidden and her husband Linden of New Durham, NH; one brother, Gerald E. McCormack of Tewksbury; two sisters, Janet (McCormack) Cluff and Meredith (McCormack) Cohen both of Tewksbury; his former mother-in-law, Gladys (Wood) Collins of Billerica; his former wife, Mary Santos of Hudson, NH; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mr. McCormack was the husband of the late Carole (Collins) McCormack, father of the late John F. McCormack, III and Austin R. McCormack and brother-in-law of the late Richard E. Cluff and David Cohen.
Calling hours Tuesday, May 29th, from 3-7 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Wednesday, May 30th, at 10:30 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m., at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. Donations in Jack’s memory may be made to the Tewksbury Lions Club, P.O. Box 314, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
