Obituary

Sister Antoinette Grenier (Sr. Louise Rita s.p.) age 92, died Monday, May 7 at the Pavillon Providence in Montreal, Quebec, after a brief illness.

She was born in Lowell, Jan. 3, 1915, the daughter of the late Romeo and Marie Louise (Lessard) Grenier.

She was a member of the Sisters of Providence of Montreal for 64 years. After her religious profession, on July 19, 1944, she missioned in the Our Lady of Seven Dolors Province from 1944 until 1958, offering a precious helping hand in the business office. She then went on to the St. Vincent de Paul Province. She pursued with the same commitment, with the additional responsibility as a local councilor at Maryville, Des Plaines, Illinois, Burlington, Vermont and Boucherville, P.Q., a period extending from 1958 until 2005, the year she retired.

In 2006, she was admitted to the Province Pavillon, a place where a Sister lives in retirement, where she can age in beauty. The last years however would submit her to dialysis treatments, also the inability to attend certain daily activities which she would have voluntarily realized.

Besides her religious family, she is survived six sisters, Simonne C. Grenier, Florence Gingras, Claire Dufresne, Rita Scanlon, all of Lowell, Therese Pageau and her husband Henry of Nashua and Jacqueline Casserly of Lowell; a brother, Roger Grenier and his wife Agnes (Dineen) of Lowell. Two sisters-in-law, Joanne Poisson and Dolores Trudel, both of Lowell; also many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was the sister of the late Gerard and Leo Grenier. Funeral services were held on May 9 in Montreal, Quebec.
