Little Compton, RI - Hilda M. (Perry) Wildes, 90, of Little Compton, RI passed away Monday, May 21, 2007 at home. She was the widow of Merrick K. Wildes.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Chester C. and Stella (Brownell) Perry, she had lived in Little Compton for the last 64 years. She graduated from Dartmouth High School and Kenyon School in New Bedford. Mrs. Wildes worked at the former Sassaquin Hospital and Nye Oil Company. She was the toll collector for Goosewing Beach in Little Compton for 40 years and was a member of the Little Compton United Congregational Church and the Allen’s Neck Friends Meeting in Dartmouth. She was active in the J.F. Wilbur School P.T.A. and the Little Compton Grange # 32. More recently, she was a participant in the Ladies’s Aid Society, the S & B Club and the Nancy Brayton Osborne Adult Day Center in Little Compton.
Survivors include 2 sons: Emerson P. Wildes and his wife Linda of Little Compton and Everett K. Wildes of North New Portland, ME; 2 daughters: Meredith W. Cornell and her husband Russell of Little Compton and Susan A. Collins and her husband Malcolm of Little Compton; 5 grandchildren: Angela, Erick, Katy, Peter and Beth; and several nieces and nephews.
Services to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, May 25, 2007 at the Potter Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M.
Calling hours Thursday 4 - 7 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
