Peter Beeley Sr. age 89 of Salem, NH, died Monday at his son’s home in Salem, NH.
He was born and educated in Methuen, MA. He was a resident of Salem, NH for the past 56 years, formerly of Lawrence, MA. Many years ago Mr. Beeley worked at Beeley’s garage in Methuen.
Mr. Beeley was a Painter for Avco Corporation of Wilmington, MA. He was a US Army Veteran serving in World War 2 in the European Theatre, under General Patton. He was also a member of the MA National Guard; He was a member of the VFW Salem Memorial Post 8546 in Salem, NH, and the Salem Kiwanis Club.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Salem, NH, where he was the chairman of the ways & means committee and served as a trustee for 6 years, among other various committees at church.
In 1958 Mr. Beeley started the Little League Farm Team in Salem, NH. He also started the Pony League in 1962, and was a Little League President for 6 years.
He was a committeeman for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 160. He was founder of the Congo-Hackers Golf League, and president for the first 4 years.
He volunteered to construct and complete the Stickney camp in Salem, NH and was also the original volunteer to set up the crèche for the nativity at Christmas time in Salem Center.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 AM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen, MA. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
