Obituary

Lillian M. “Dot” (Abbott) McHale, of Stoneham, formerly of Medford and Somerville, died Saturday at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She was 82.

Dot was born in Cambridge and raised in Somerville, the daughter of the late John and the late Lillian (Ambrose) Abbott. A long-time Somerville resident, Dot worked for the City of Somerville as a Social Worker in the Welfare and Elderly Affairs Departments. Dot and her late husband William lived in Medford for 20 years. Dot moved to Stoneham after her husband’s death. There she became active at Saint Patrick’s Parish.

She was the beloved wife of William P. McHale who died in 1994. She was the devoted sister of Paul Abbott of Walpole and John Abbott of California. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, Stoneham, Thursday at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
