Helen Lucker Rose, 82, of 69 Courtland Drive, Groton passed away Monday at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 30, 1924 the daughter of Karl and Agnes (Finnerty) Lucker. Raised in Philadelphia, she graduated from the University of Penn School of Nursing 1948 as a Registered Nurse.
Helen spent most of her childhood and adult summers on the beaches of Sea Isle and Ocean City, NJ and had many wonderful memories of her times there.
Helen lived for many years in Colchester CT. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Colchester Convalescent Home for over 20 years and as an RN at the Seaside Home for Mentally Retarded Children and Adults.
In 1989, Helen and her late husband Victor relocated to New Smyrna Beach, FL and lived there for 14 very special years before the passing of her beloved husband in 2003. She then returned to spend her remaining years with her children and grandchildren in Groton.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Anthony and Tracey Rose of N. Stonington, her daughter and son in law, Gary and Loretta Arnott of Norwich, her daughter, Theresa Rose of Groton with whome Helen made her home; her grandchildren: Caroline, Samantha, Curtis, Evan, Ben; and her siblings, Charles Lucker of Brigatine, NJ and Lucille Smith of Ocean City, NJ.
She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years: Victor John Rose and a sister, Ottilie Lucker.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Norwich on Saturday at 11am. Entombment of her ashes will be private. There are no visiting hours.
