Obituary

BILLERICA; Erven William Samsel, age 82, a resident of Billerica for 57 years, died Friday, May 18, 2007 at the Heritage Manor in Lowell, following a lengthy illness.
He was the husband of Catherine (Laquidara) Samsel, with whom he would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on August 10, 2007.
Born in Everett on June 10, 1924, he was the son of the late Harvey and Esther Samsel.
Mr. Samsel was raised in Everett and attended Everett schools.
In 1942, he enlisted the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.
In 1962, Mr. Samsel became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He attended the Billerica Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where he previously served as an elder for 30 years.
Prior to his retirement in 1991, he owned and operated the “Cobbler Shop” of Billerica, where he worked for 18 years. Mr. Samsel previously worked in the electronics industry for more than 20 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Sylvia (Rivet) Malas and her husband William of Tyngsboro; two sons, William M. Samsel and his wife Terrie of St. Louis, MO and Anthony Samsel of New Hampshire; one sister, Esther Laquidara of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Vanessa Chirichiello, Jeremy Samsel and his wife Anna Maria, Veronica and Zachary Samsel and Justin and Michael Rivet; three great grandchildren, Douglas, Ava and Sophia Chirichiello.
His memorial service will be held Saturday, May 26th, at 10 a.m., at the Billerica Kingdom Hall, 310 River St., Billerica. At the request of the family there are No Calling Hours. Interment at Fox Hill Cemetery will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, Tewksbury.
