Mrs. Cathleen M. (McCarthy) Smith, 99, of Manchester, NH passed away on Saturday morning May 19, 2007 at the Elliot Hospital. She was born in Gorham, NH on April 15, 1908 the daughter of Thomas E. and Clara (Ouellette) McCarthy and had attended Gorham schools and had been employed by New England Telephone. Cathleen had lived in New Hampshire and California and returned to New Hampshire after her retirement.
Members of the family include two daughters Susan Seibert of Merrimack, NH and Roberta Anderson of Center Harbor, NH; three sons Paul Smith and Michael Smith, both of San Carlos, CA and David Smith of Reno, Nevada; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Bliss M. Smith, a son Ronald Smith, three brothers John McCarthy, Robert McCarthy and Edward McCarthy and by two sisters Ethel Piper and Anna Dalphonse.
SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning May 25, 2007 at 11 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant Street, Berlin, with interment to follow in St. Kieran Cemetery in Berlin. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Anyone who wishes may make a donation in her memory to the American Heart Association or to the Salvation Army.
