Querino M. “Jerry” Ruggiero of West Bridgewater, formerly of Stoughton and Hyde Park passed away on Friday May 18, 2007 after a brief illness at The LifeCare Center of West Bridgewater. He was 98 years old. He was the beloved husband of the late Lena M. (Pupi).
Born January 8, 1909 in North Easton, he was a son of the late Paul and Mary (DeLuca) Ruggiero. He attended Stoughton Public Schools.
Mr. Ruggiero was employed as a Storekeeper for the New York - New Haven - Hartford, PennCentral and ConRail Railroads until his retirement in 1977.
He was a member of The Sons Of Italy in Hyde Park - Readville and was also a communicant of the former Our Lady Of The Rosary Parish in Stoughton.
He enjoyed gardening, landscaping and had a particular interest in fixing cars of all types. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all.
He is survived by his children, Sonny Ruggiero and his wife Ginny of West Barnstable, Frank Ruggiero and his wife Carol of Florida and Jean (Ruggiero) Veldhoven and her husband John of West Bridgewater. He is also survived by his brother Charles Ruggiero of East Falmouth, and his sisters, Frances Ruggiero, Marie Ruggiero, Natalie Ruggiero, Virginia Schretlen all of East Falmouth, Catherine Leahy, Pauline Ruggiero and Helena Blum all of Stoughton. Other survivors include his 5 grandchildren, 7 great - grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was also a brother to the late Guido Ruggiero and James Ruggiero.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday May 22, 2007 at 9:30 A.M. from the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Followed by a mass of Christian burial for the repose of his soul in The Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Rt. 27 Stoughton at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368 in Querino’s memory, would be appreciated.
Visiting hours to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend will be held on Monday May 21, 2007 from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
