Mary Ruth (Kelleher) LeBlanc, 82, a retired registered nurse, died Thursday at South Shore Hospital after suffering a stroke. She was born and raised in Brockton, a daughter of the late Patrick F. and Sarah M.(Eldridge) Kelleher. She was a graduate of the former St. Mary’s High School Class of 1943 in Taunton and graduated from St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing in Brighton Class of 1946. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology from Emmanuel College Class of 1979 and earned a Masters degree from Assumption College in Worcester in 1982. Mrs. LeBlanc was the Director of Social Services at South Shore Hospital for 11 years until her retirement in 1990.
She was a nurse for the Braintree VNA for many years. She lived in Avon for 50 years spending winters in Florida for several years until her health declined. Mrs. LeBlanc was an avid reader and enjoyed the beach, gardening, dancing and family.
She is survived by her two sons, Richard E. LeBlanc and his wife Jill of Carver, Alan F. LeBlanc and his wife Anne of Somerset, one brother, Robert Kelleher and his wife Nancy of Arlington VA; four grandchildren, Allie LeBlanc, Barbara and Robyn Souza and Amy Burris and several nieces and nephews.
