Manuel L. Costa, 84, of New Bedford died May 16, 2007 at Southeastern Mass. Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
He was the husband of Hilda (Teixeira) Costa.
Born in Providence, the son of the late John and Lena (Martin) Costa, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Costa was a communicant of St. Kilian's Church.
He was formerly employed by several local fish houses for many years before retiring from Coastal Fisheries.
Mr. Costa enjoyed playing pool, watching movies and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Gerald Costa of New Bedford; 2 daughters, Brenda DeMello of New Bedford and Barbara Gonsalves of Chicopee; a brother, Arthur Costa of Florida; 2 sisters, Diana Rose of Connecticut and Cecelia Farias of New Bedford; 6 grandchildren, John DeMello, Shawn DeMello, Thomas DeMello, Stephen Gonsalves, Jennifer Costa and Holly Berardi; 5 great-grandchildren.
He was the grandfather of the late Rhonda Franco and brother of the late John Costa, Alfred Costa, Joseph Costa, George Costa and Hilda Lima.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. Monday, May 19th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Kilian's Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday, May 20th 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
