Filomena (Berarducci) Serena - Of Needham, at St. Patrick’s Manor, Framingham on May 16, 2007. Age 108.
She was born January 22, 1899 in Pettorano Sul Gizio, L’Aquila, Italy, one of eleven children. Beloved wife of the late Pietro A. Serena. Mother of Lelia Truant of Needham, George and Mildred Serena of Palm Harbor, FL and South Yarmouth and Dr. Raymond and Maria Timmerman of Fort Thomas, KY. Loving grandmother of Anne, Janet, Caroline, and David Timmerman, Dorothy, Patricia, Mariellen, Peter, Karen, Nancy and Elizabeth Serena and Cynthia, Sandra, Alida and Marc Truant. Great grandmother of 16. Sister of Antonio Berarducci of Caracas, Venezuela, Lina Leone of Sulmona, Italy and Elisa DiCenzo of Arlington, VA.
Remembered as fiercely independent woman, she loved her gardens, was a wonderful homemaker and was totally devoted to and adored by her family, friends and especially her grandchildren.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., NEEDHAM, on Monday at 9:30 AM. Funeral mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Needham, at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visitation prior to the mass from 8:30-9:30 AM. Interment St. Michael’s Cemetery, Roslindale. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Filomena’s memory to St. Patrick’s Manor, 863 Central St., Framingham, MA 01701-4892. Attn: The Van Fund to benefit the enjoyment of the residents.
St. Patrick’s Manor, managed by the Carmelite Sisters ministering to the aged and infirm, has been her home for the past twelve years. There she was treated with the utmost professional care, courtesy, consideration and love by everyone. Her family is eternally grateful.
