Bridgewater - Russell Everett Reynolds Sr., 70, of Bridgewater, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Brockton Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Gertrude (Smith) Reynolds.
Born Oct. 19, 1936, in Quincy, he was the son of the late Austin S. and Marion Irene (Shaw) Reynolds.
Raised and educated in Quincy, he was a graduate of Quincy High School.
Mr. Reynolds worked at the DPW for the Town of Whitman, retiring 30 years ago due to his illness. He had also worked at the Quincy Shipyard and Everett’s Auto Parts.
He was in the US Army, private 1st class, and served during the Korean War.
Mr. Reynolds had been a resident of Bridgewater for 20 years, coming from Quincy.
An avid train collector, he loved to sit at the train yards and count freight cars.
Mr. Reynolds was also a Red Sox fan.
He was the husband of the late Gertrude (Smith); father of Russell Everett Reynolds Jr., Lisa Oakley, Kellie DeGraff, Tracy Kelly and Michele Born, all of NY, James Reynolds of Bridgewater, Michael Reynolds of FL, Russell Austin Reynolds of E. Bridgewater, Faith Joyce of Marshfield, Maryann Dube of Pembroke, Patricia Pierce of Kingston, Deborah Colgate of Whitman, Karen Keller of Hanson, Charles Taylor of FL and Lynn Barros of New Bedford; brother of Mary Elizabeth Hoffman, Marion Irene Chames and the late Austin Swift Reynolds Jr. and Beatrice Dorothy Reynolds. Also survived by 48 grandchildren, 22 great-children and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral service will be held in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Monday at 10 am. Visiting hours are Sunday 3-7 pm. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, W. Bridgewater.
