Donald J. Galvin, 69, of Pawtucket, RI died May 14, 2007 unexpectedly at home.
Born in Medford, MA, the son of the late Thomas F. and Josephine M. (Woods) Galvin, he was raised in Marion before moving to Pawtucket in 1976. He was a graduate of Wareham High School and Cape Cod Community College majoring in electronics.
He was a communicant of St. Rita's Church in Marion.
Mr. Galvin was formerly employed as an electronic technician for many years until retirement. In retirement, he volunteered his time and talent to underprivileged children with the USA Freedom Corps teaching computer operations. He was the recipient of the President's Volunteer Service Award from George W. Bush in recognition of his volunteering. He also volunteered at Youthbuild Providence. Donald always wanted to help the underdog.
He served his county proudly as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in Germany during the 1960's. Mr. Galvin was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his brother, Richard Galvin, and his wife Randi, of Marion; two sisters, Sheila Chaberek and Susan Richard, both of Barrington, NH; and three nieces, Jennifer, Kathleen and Marci.
