Obituary

Peabody: Ronald P. L’Italien age 63 of Peabody, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Edward L. and Estelle H. (Bartnicki) L’Italien. He attended Salem High and joined the Navy Reserves in 1961, serving on active duty with the Sea Bees on the USS Skywatcher until 1965. Following his tour of duty, he returned to Salem and continued with his education while working for Raytheon.
Ron received his degree in industrial science from Fitchburg State in 1979. He continued working for Raytheon as a computer programmer until his retirement in 2003.
While at Raytheon, Ron was active on the morale committee and upon his retirement was presented the Ratheon Lifetime Achievement Award. He was devoted to his family and especially his grandchildren. He loved sports, the sea and his favorite ocean perch was the park at the Marblehead Light. He was also a member of Reading Overseas Veterans, Inc.
Ronald is survived by a son, Scott M. L’Italien & his wife Julie W. of Peabody, a daughter, Deborah A. Tetrault & her husband Paul T. of Beverly, a sister, Cynthia A. Kiddie of Oak Island, NC, 5 grandchildren: Jacqueline, Danielle & Nicolette Tetrault, Andrew & Kaitlyn L’Italien. He is also survived by 2 nephews: Robert & Gregg Ingemi.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 9 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem followed by his funeral mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, on the Salem / Peabody line [Rt. 114] at 10 am. Visiting hours: Friday 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
