Curtiss Melvyn Preston, age 56, of 170 Pelican Dr., Groton, passed away Saturday morning, May 12, 2007 peacefully in his sleep.
He was born February 19, 1951 in Attleboro, MA the son of late Melvin Roland Preston and surviving mother Helen (Rheaume) Preston.
He attended Fitch High School and later transferred to Ledyard High School to earn his diploma of graduation while serving in the Army. He was a US Army veteran of Vietnam and served in the National Guard in both Georgia and Connecticut.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lance and is survived by his sister, Karen Gagnon of Marietta, GA, Jeffrey of Groton, Mark of Taftville, Ward of Groton and 12 nephews and 3 nieces.
He is best remembered for an unselfish life in providing care for his mother since his father's death in 2002, possessing a great sense of humor, and enjoying cooking and good-tasting food. He was employed at Dish Network.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday at 11am. Burial with military honors will follow at Avery-Stoddard Cemetery, Ledyard.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, PO Box 3704, Memphis TN 38173.
