OXFORD: Nicholas Mandella,85, of 85 Millbury Rd., Oxford formerly of the
Cherry Valley section of Leicester, died Tuesday, May 15 at St. Vincent
Hospital in Worcester after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Rita M. (Kovaleski) Mandella, four sons
Nicholas J. Mandella and his wife Linda and Joseph G. Mandella and his wife
Lynn all of Spencer, Steven M. Mandella of Southbridge and Tod M. Mandella
and his wife Cheryl of Oxford with whom he lived, a brother Albert Mantelli
of E.Brookfield, three sisters Barbara Mantelli and Virginia Erdmand both of
Lakewood, Calif., and Dora Colella of LasVegas, N.V., 12 grand children, 6
great grand children, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son
Michael Mandella, a daughter Linda Mandella, a brother Robert Mantelli and
two sisters Mary and Camille Mantelli.
Mr. Mandella worked in construction for many years and was the owner of
Mandella & Son Construction Co. prior to his retirement. He was an Army
veteran of WWII, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4528 in
Leicester. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Church. He enjoyed
hunting, trap shooting, camping and especially time with his family.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of Nicholas and Theresa (Capezutta)
Mantelli, and lived in Cherry Valley before moving to Oxford in 2004.
The funeral will be held on Friday, May 18 from the MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL
HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's
Church, 759 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery,
Leicester. Calling hours are Thursday, May 17 from 4 to 7p.m. In lieu of
