Obituary

WHITMAN - Robert H. Flood, 85, of Whitman, formerly of East Bridgewater, died Monday, May 14, 2007, at Brockton Hospital. He was the husband of Phyllis (Look) (Dodge) Flood of Whitman and the late Virginia M. (Cole) Flood of 49 years.

Born April 28, 1922, in East Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Conie and Bertha (Wilson) Flood.

He graduated from East Bridgewater High School, Class of 1940.

Mr. Flood served in World War II as a Navy Seabee in the Pacific Theater and crossed the Equator.

He was employed for many years at the Jenkins Mill in Bridgewater and was the owner of Swanson-Flood Co., Inc., in East Bridgewater.

Mr. Flood was a licensed radio/TV technician.

He was a past master of Satucket Lodge AF and AM 1986 and 1987 and a 32nd degree Mason and past District Department Grand Marshal.

Mr. Flood was a member of the Pilgrim Chapter Order of Eastern Star and the York Rite Bodies.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their RV.

He was the husband of Phyllis (Look) (Dodge) Flood and the late Virginia M. (Cole) Flood of 49 years; father of Beverly J. Smith and her husband Edward, Lois M. Sullivan and her husband Roger and Deborah A. Nelson and her husband Wayne, all of East Bridgewater; stepfather of Sharon Mather and her husband George of Utah, Jeffrey Dodge and his wife Rachel of Centerville, Julie Rotondo and her husband James and Christopher Dodge and his wife Barbara of East Bridgewater; brother-in-law of Lois (Cole) Simon and her husband Lionel of West Bridgewater; brother of the late Freeman, William, Harold Flood and Dorothy Truesdell; grandfather of 7 and the late Robert E. Smith; great-grandfather of 7. Also survived by many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

His Funeral service will be held in the Wales-Prophett Funeral Home, 35 Spring St., East Bridgewater, Friday at 11. Visiting hours are Thursday 4-8 pm with a Masonic Service at 8 pm. Interment in Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
