Aline D. (Mainville) Michelin, age 80, died Saturday, May 12 at a local healthcare facility in Lowell. For 54 years, she was the wife of the late Joseph N. Michelin who died in 1999.
She was born in Lowell on May 19, 1926, the daughter of the late Augustine and Maria (Cote) Mainville. Mrs. Michelin was a lifelong resident of Lowell, attended Lowell schools and was a communicant of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Parish.
She enjoyed sewing patchwork quits, making Aunt Jemima Toaster dolls, making clothing and draperies. She also loved collecting knick knacks, music, playing games and cards, spending time with her family and friends, and taking care of grandchildren.
She is survived by four daughters, Theresa Morin of Dracut, Claire, Diane and Pauline Michelin, all of Lowell; A son and daughter-in-law, Omer and Sandy (Norman) Michelin of Orange, MA; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; a sister, Rose Wilson of Ithaca, NY; a brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Laura Mainville of Freeport, NY; a cousin, Gloria Fisher of Scranton, PA; a step brother, Henry Mainville of NY; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the sister of the late Omer and Edward Mainville and step sister of the late Hector Mainville.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell, on Wednesday, May 16th from 4 to 8pm. Cremation to follow. A prayer service will be held on Friday, May 18 at 12 noon at St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel, Chelmsford.
