Americo G. "Mac" Ferreira, 83, of New Bedford died November 18, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Maria Clara (Madeira) Ferreira and son of the late Antone Gomes Faria and Mary (Nobrega) Faria.
Mr. Ferreira was born in Dartmouth and lived in New Bedford most of his life.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Mr. Ferreira was formerly employed as a truck driver at Scovill Manufacturing for 10 years until his retirement. He had previously worked at Boston Nickel Plating, Aerovox and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.
He was a former member of Clube S.S. Sacramento deMadeirense in New Bedford, and formerly served as publicity director of the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament.
Mr. Ferreira was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He was an avid New York Yankees Fan.
Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, June E. Monteiro, and her husband Robert, of South Dartmouth and Jane M. DeFaria, and her husband Henry, of Westport; a sister, Linda Nogueira of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren, Rebecca Monteiro and Ryan Monteiro, both of South Dartmouth and Matthew DeFaria and Katelin DeFaria, both of Westport; several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Adelaide Taylor and Frank Nobrega.
