GLOUCESTER: Mona Jean (Brown) Favazza, 61, died Friday morning, May 11, 2007, at her residence following an extended illness. She was the wife of James J. Favazza.
Born in Gloucester on April 28, 1946, she was the daughter of the late James R. and Mona K. (Whynott) Brown. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1964.
Along with her husband, she owned Family Lighting. Mona Jean was also employed by Rule Industries for twenty years before leaving due to illness. She enjoyed the beach and ocean, boating, biking and traveling.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and sister, she had a wonderful sense of humor, an infectious smile and a great laugh. She will be missed immeasurably by her family and many friends.
In addition to her husband of forty-one years, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda L. and Edward Latham, Jr., a son, David J. Favazza, two sisters, Jane Brown and Joan, wife of Russell “Mo” Moses, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nina and Michael Favazza, a sister-in-law, Jodi, wife of Dan Warner, two brothers-in-law, Sal, husband of MaryLou Favazza and Michael, husband of Karen Favazza, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins including a special cousin, Vincent, husband of Cynthia Asaro and a special great-niece, Keyarah Harris. She also leaves behind many dear friends including, Colleen Martin, who was her primary caregiver, to whom the family is grateful for the loving care she gave Mona Jean. She was also predeceased by a brother, James R. Brown, Jr. and her beloved dog, Tasha.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be held privately in the Mt. Adnah Cemetery.
