Obituary

Woburn, Joseph T. Lucas Jr., age 77 of Woburn, died Sunday in his home following a lengthy illness. Mr. Lucas was born in Boston, MA, the son of the late Joseph and the late Eileen (Malloy) Lucas Sr. He was a life long resident of Woburn. Mr. Lucas worked for many years as a driller and blaster in the construction industry until his retirement in 1980. Following his retirement he worked for over ten years as a custodian at Woburn High School. Mr. Lucas was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII serving from 1943 to 1946. Joseph was also very active in many service organizations. He served as a past Comander of the the Woburn VFW Post 543, and was a member of the American Legion Post 101, Moose Lodge 1214, Irish American Club, and the Woburn Elks. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Joseph´s memory to the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St. Boston, MA 02108.

Mr. Lucas is preceded in death by his wife Louise M. (Blakely) and is survived by six sons, Charles F. And Joseph T. III both of CA, Paul E. of Stoughton, Robert D. of Woburn, Peter J. of Lowell and Daniel F. of Winchester, Three daughters; Mary L. Rosa of Peabody, Eileen V. Lucas of Westford and Patricia A. Hernandez of Billerica. He is also survived by twelve grandchidren and is the brother of Virginia Phinney, Jean Gonsalves, Carol Bavaro all of Woburn, Mary Gelinas of Bedford the late James and John Lucas.

Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Thursday at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St. Woburn, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9. Services will conclude with burial in the Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
