MALDEN - Josephine A. (DiGuiseppe) (Williams) Murphy, age 92, died Saturday, May 12, at
the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, after a long period of declining health. She was the wife of
Wilfred P. Williams, who died in 1982, and Edward J. Murphy, who died in 2003.
She was born in Boston on April 10, 1915, a daughter of the late Joseph DiGuiseppe and Ella
(B.C. Moore) DiGuiseppe. She was raised by her mother and step-father, the late Philip
Mardirosian. She lived in Malden the greater part of her life, but lived in Tewksbury from 1982
until 2001 when she returned to Malden.
She worked as an Aid at the Dexter House in Malden, and also worked in the directory assistance
center for the former New England Telephone Company.
As a resident of Tewksbury, she was active in the Tewksbury Golden Age Club.
She is survived by four children, Robert L. and his wife Lillian Williams of Westfield, Edwin G.
and his wife Phyllis Williams of Derry, NH, Russell J. and his wife Marlene Williams of CA, and
Diane and her husband Joseph Ignazi of Milford, NH; eleven grandchildren; nine great
grandchildren; two brothers, Leo Mardirosian of CA, George Mardirosian of Everett; a sister,
Louise Beaty of LA; and many nieces and nephews including Linda Celata of Tewksbury.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, May 16, in St. William’s
Church, Tewksbury. Following her cremation, interment was in the
National Cemetery at Cape Cod. Memorials to the M.S.P.C.A., Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844,
will be appreciated.
