Obituary

Nicholas L. “Nick” DeMeo, Sr., 85 of Medford, died Wednesday unexpectedly in the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, MA.

Born in Chelsea, he lived in Medford for the past 56 years and was the son of the late Julia (Carulo) and James DeMeo. Nicholas was a machinist with United Electrical Controls in Water town for 30 years and retired in 1985. He also was the owner of NLD Machine Company in Medford. Nick served during World War II as a Tec 5 with the Headquarters Battery 208th Field Artillery Battalion in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. Nick received the Croix de Guerre with Palm and Fourragere Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a late member of the VFW Post 1012 in Medford.

Beloved husband of Ethel (Goss) DeMeo. Devoted father of Nicholas L. DeMeo Jr. and his wife Donna of Tewksbury, Elaine Ribeiro and her husband Ken of North Reading. Loving grandfather of Michael and Danny DeMeo, Nicole Donoghue, JeanMarie, Christine, and Jessie Ribeiro. Loving great grandfather of Christopher, Miranda, Timmy, Jillian, Lacey, and Gianna DeMeo, Sean and Brenna Donoghue. Brother of Mary Flaherty, Rose Smith and the late Phyllis Klones, George, James, Joseph, and Albert DeMeo.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Tuesday at 10 AM.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8.

Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
