Jonathan M. Riley, 28
Former Mansfield Resident

Jonathan M. Riley, 28, of Dorchester formerly of South Boston, Boston and Mansfield died unexpectedly on Tuesday May 8, 2007 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Katherine G. (Sandell) Riley to whom he was wed to on September 30, 2006.
Born in Boston, MA on September 10, 1978 he was a loving son of Thomas F. and Anita L. (Rogers) Riley of Boston.
He grew up in Mansfield and was educated in Mansfield schools. He received his certification to be an Emergency Medical Technician at Northeastern University. He also held certification in Emergency Nurses Care and as an Emergency Dispatcher which he obtained from the National Academy of Emergency Dispatchers.
Mr. Riley had been employed as an EMT and as a Dispatcher for the past year at the Cataldo Ambulance Service in Somerville. He had been previously been employed for several other Boston based ambulances services.
While living in Mansfield Jonathan was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church where he also served as an altar boy and was a member of the church cub scout and boy scout groups. At Mansfield High School he played on both the football and hockey teams. When he was younger he was a member of the Tri-County Saints Hockey League. He was also a former member of the Ancient Honor of Hibernians in Plainville
Jonathan was an avid Fighting Irish Note Dame fan. He treasured the times spent with his loving family and thru his generosity to others at the time of his death he donated organs in the hope of helping others less fortunate. He had lived in Dorchester and South Boston for over 3 years and was formerly of Boston and Mansfield.
In addition to his beloved wife and loving parents he is survived by his devoted sister Heidi L. Riley of Woonsocket, R.I. His dear grandmother Louise Robbins of Abington. His mother and father in law John and Grace Sandell of Marshfield. His brother in law Daniel Sandell of Marshfield. Also surviving are his loving aunts, uncles, cousins and his many friends.
His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Wednesday May 16th at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St.(Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday May 15th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
Following the funeral Mass on Wednesday a reception will follow at Shenannigans located at 332 West Broadway in South Boston.
In lieu of flowers Jonathan’s family has requested that donation in his memory be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute 44 Binney St. Boston, MA 02115.
