Worcester—Achille “Al” C. Letiecq, 90, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, in Saint Vincent Hospital. He was born in Worcester, son of Gustave and Alexina (Pageau) Letiecq. He was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. He played semi-pro baseball for 20 years as a shortstop in the Worcester Industrial League. Al sang with several big bands, including Dol Brissette & Orchestra and the Russ Cole Band. He enjoyed organizing variety shows and performing locally for Senior Citizen and other community groups. He worked for 36 years at the Worcester Transit Authority, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Irene (Melanson) Letiecq of Worcester; two daughters, Mary Ann Gagen of Greenfield and Linda A. Letiecq of Beverly Hills, CA; two brothers, Joseph and Albert Letiecq; a sister, Cecile Lucas; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 9, at 10:00 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street. Burial will be private in Notre Dame Cemetery.
