Obituary

Mary R. (Fitzgerald) Livingstone, 83, a long-time resident of Winchester, passed away in Laconia, NH on May 6th. Born in Chicopee, MA, she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Mary (McNamara) Fitzgerald. A graduate of Our Lady of the Elms College with a degree in English, she married her late husband, Edward A. Livingstone in 1951, just as she finished her studies. Mrs. Livingtone spent time as a teacher and as a Social Worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, while raising their threer children in Winchester. An active member of the community, Mary was very social and loved people. She was involved in many local organizations and clubs, including the Winchester Republican’s Club, the En Ka Society of Winchester – Winchester’s oldest women’s service organization, the Garden Club, the Mr. & Mrs. Club, and the Winchester Boat Club. Mary also volunteered her time at the library and at Winchester Hospital as a member of the Winton Club, which exclusively supports the non-profit hospital with volunteer services, programs and yearly gifts. Mary lent her time to St. Eulalia’s Church as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Sodality at St. Mary’s. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church while in Laconia.

Mary was the dear mother of Mary Beth Little and her husband Robert of Winchester, Edward “Ned” and his wife Barbara Jones-Livingstone of Billerica and Christopher and his wife Brenda (Bassett) Livingstone of Dracut. The Sister of the late Paul Fitzgerald and Elizabeth Lawrence, she is also survived by her grandchildren Katherine and Matthew Little and Michael and Kerry Livingstone. Her funeral will be from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Thurs. May 10 at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, Winchester at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Wed. from 3-7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Charitable Admissions Fund at Taylor Community, 435 Union Ave., Laconia, NH 03246.
