Joseph B. Milano, of Dover formerly of Roslindale, retired Treasurer of Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, died Sun. May 6, 2007 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center West Campus in Boston. He was 77.
Born and raised in Roslindale he graduated from Boston English High School and received his BA from Northeastern Univ. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was discharged as a Sgt. He served as treasurer at Xaverian for more than 20 years. A former member of the Roslindale Council Knights of Columbus, he was an active bridge player at the Callahan Senior Center in Framingham. He also enjoyed playing chess and ballroom dancing at Mosley’s in Dedham.
He is survived by his wife Anna (Wakefield) Milano, his children Joanne Poor of Nashua NH, Steven F. Milano of Dedham, Stephanie F. Gavin of Burlington and Michele I. Milano of Dedham, his step children Jon Schurger of Berkshire VT and Catherine Giugliano of Sparta NJ, his sister Lee Milano of Burlington, his aunt Gladys Milano of Burlington and 8 grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Joseph B. Milano Jr.
Relatives and friends will gather at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Fri May 11 at 8 AM and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 420 High St. Dedham at 9 AM. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery Jamaica Plain. Visiting hours will be in the funeral home on Thurs from 4-8 PM.
