Obituary

STEPHEN M. PARKER, 50 of Raynham, formerly of Brockton, Amtrak Railroad Conductor, died suddenly Thursday at New England Medical Center in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Diane (Belanger) Parker for 25 years.

Born May 6, 1956, in Brockton, he was the son of the late Catherine "Nancy" and Richard W. Parker Sr.

He was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1974, and worked as a train conductor employed by Amtrak for 31 years. He was also past president and local chairman for United Transportation Union 262.

A 16-year resident of the Raynham community, Mr. Parker was well-known for his volunteer work, including the building and restoration of athletic fields for football, baseball, softball and soccer. He was a baseball coach for several years.

For his hard work and devotion, he was honored with the dedication of the Parker Pavillion at the athletic complex in Raynham. Due to his passion for nature and wildlife, Steve enjoyed fishing, camping, and quadding with his family.

He was also a communicant of Saint Ann's Parish.

In addition to his wife Diane, he was a dedicated father to Gregory and Kelly Parker, both of Raynham; he is survived by his 5 brothers: Richard W. Parker of Quincy, James T. Parker of Brockton, Michael A. Parker of Brockton, Frank J. Parker of FL and John R. Parker of S. Weymouth; 3 sisters, Mary Doiron of FL, Teresa Green of RI, and Kathleen Tobin of South Easton, and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Tuesday 4-8 pm. Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, 660 N. Main St., Raynham, Wednesday at 11 am.
