Ashland-Howard Shirley Good, 84, of 12 Brunt Avenue died Saturday evening, May 5th, 2007 at Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth after a period of declining health.
Born in New Salem, Fayette County, Pennsylvania on June 25, 1922 he was the son of the late Louis and Anne (Goodstein) Good. Howard was raised in Pennsylvania and New York City, and while in New York City he attended the Wright Oral School for the Deaf. After the 1929 Stock Market Crash Howard's family moved to Florida where he attended the St. Augustine School for the Deaf and Blind, and for many years he worked at a soda shop making ice cream. In 1981 he moved to Ashland where he made his home.
Prior to his retirement Howard was also employed as a typesetter for several years.
Beside his parents Howard is predeceased by his two brothers, Sheldon and Charles Good.
Howard is survived by his wife of 54 years, Yvonne O. (Durrette) Good of Ashland; one son Richard Plourde also of Ashland; one aunt, Grace Shocket of Lauderhill, Florida; one sister-in-law, Claire Good of Port St. Lucie, Florida. Many nieces and nephews also survive Howard.
A Graveside Service was held on Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia. Rev. Leo A. LeBlanc pastor of Holy Trinity Parish in Plymouth officiated in word and sign language. There were no visiting hours.
