Obituary

WORCESTER-Phyllis A. (Morey) Riedl, 88, of Worcester, died Friday, May 4th in St. Vincent Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert D. Riedl; 4 brothers, Ronnie I. Morey of LaPlata, MD, Barry C. Morey of Brimfield, Norman M. Morey of Hudson and James H. Morey of Grandville, OH; 3 nephews, Thomas Morey of Boxborough, James Morey of Hudson and Robert Riedl of Brewster; 5 nieces, Anne Broderick of Chatham, Leslie McMillan and Kathleen Marchetterre, both of Nashua, NH and Paula and Gigi, both of Brewster; 2 grandnieces, Heather Marchetterre and Mary McMillan both of Nashua, NH; and a brother-in-law, Louis H. Riedl of Harwich. A brother Perley R. Morey and a sister, Lillian Norton predeceased her.

She was born in Brockton, the daughter of Perley L. and Norene (Cash) Morey. Mrs. Riedl was a 1937 graduate of Leominster High School and Becker College. She was employed by the Norton Company for 25 years as private secretary to the vice president of shipping, retiring in 1972. Mrs. Riedl was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a golf enthusiast and was a member at Hillcrest Country Club. Mrs. Riedl enjoyed traveling to Florida every winter, and will be remembered as an active woman and a friend to many.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 8th at 1:00 PM in First Baptist Church, 111 Park Avenue. Funeral services will be private. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Office of Development, 1501 NW 9th Avenue/Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136.
