George J. Bernard, a long-time Medford resident died Friday at the Aberjona Nursing Center, Winchester. He was 95.
George was born and raised in North Cambridge, Mass. A Medford resident for 70 years, George worked as a bus driver for the MBTA and was a member of the Carmen’s Union #589. A thoroughbred racing enthusiast, George was a frequent visitor to Boston´s Suffolk Downs.
He was the beloved husband of the late Maud “Chickie” (Henderson). He was a devoted father to George Bernard, Jr. and his wife Gail of Woodstock, VT and Judy A. Bernard of Stoneham. He was a loving grandfather to Derek J. Bernard and his wife Jennifer of Dunstable, Robin Kalmes and her husband Jeff of Billerica, and Jim Bernard of York, Maine. He also leaves five great-grandchildren.
George’s Funeral Service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday May 10th at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Wednesday 5 – 8 PM and Thursday one hour prior to the Service. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
